  Perhaps the first warning the world got about what was to come from the Dutch team, now about three-quarters complete. Brief highlights were even shown on British television, although the tone of the commentary was along the lines of, "Well, it doesn't look as if Argentina are going to do much this time around". It seems the point was somewhat missed...

  This was Jongbloed's second cap, the first having been in 1962! Central defender Pleun Strik, to be overlooked when the World Cup started, scored for both sides.
